Nova's Puppies' 12/16 pics

The puppies are growing quite quickly now! it seems like only a few days ago they were just taking their first few wobbly steps, and now they're running all over the house to and fro. They're definitely developing some personality now - some of them are more playful, some are more laid-back.
These pictures were taken on the 16th, but there was a family event on the 17th in which the camera got sent home to the wrong house with all the pictures on it, and it just got sent back to the right place, so this blog post is a lot later in the week than I'd like!

A pile of puppies hanging out in little sweaters I made for them - it was cold in the house and they needed some extra warmth.

Some puppies getting powdered kibble - they really took to the powdered kibble quite quickly!

Horsea - the second-smallest boy. Horsea is the quietest of the group. I often see him playing out and about and roughhousing, but he never complains about anything. Even tumbles that cause other puppies to run to mommy don't seem to faze him - he just keeps on trucking.

Ghastly - the middle boy. Ghastly is also a quiet one, but more reserved. His favorite activity is napping and cuddling, rather than going out and getting in trouble. The puppys' favorite napping spot is near our feet, and that's the first place Ghastly will go in the morning.

Ditto - one of the two largest boys. Ditto is always looking for human attention. Whether it be cuddles, playing, or comfort after a tumble, he wants us to know what he's doing and that we should do it too. Ditto also has the best markings out of the group - his blacking was all in before he opened his eyes, and he even has some black markings on the underside of his ear and inside his mouth.

Raichu - the other largest boy. Raichu is a middle-of-the-road sort of puppy. He likes to play sometimes, but other times he'd rather nap. Sometimes he wants to play with the other puppies, sometimes he'd rather have human attention. Somewhat vocal, but not the loudest.

Pidgey - the smallest boy. Pidgey is a very adventurous little baby. He loves to get in trouble, and loves to investigate new things. He also loves human attention and cuddles - and he usually gets them, because he's so dang adorable. Being smallest also gives him a more terrier-like face, rather than the hound-like face the bigger puppies have.

Jynx - Biggest girl. Jynx is about as big as Ditto and Raichu are - maybe a little bit smaller. Jynx is very laid back. She's one of the puppies who would much rather be napping and cuddling than getting up and running about. She's quite quiet as well.

Eevee - Smallest Girl. Eevee is the very smallest out of all the puppies. As the very smallest, she gets a little bit of special attention from us. She's definitely adventurous and playful, and somehow has the most energy out of all the puppies. Somewhat vocal, but not as much as Raichu and Ditto. She's a positive little angel, and picks herself right back up after any setback.

Last weekend's open houses ended up not going through due to the weather, but we still brought Rampage over to meet the puppies and we opened our second BarkBox and had everyone play with the included stuff. The dogs were particular fans of the hot cocoa mug, because it made a wonderfully great forage toy (the sort of toy you hide treats or food in and they have to figure out how to get the treats out)

The puppies go to their first vet visit tomorrow, the 22nd. They'll get their first puppy shots and a general look-over. Then with a clean bill of health in hand they'll come back home and get a nice bath before meeting the first forever family on Friday~

Thanks for reading, and as always, feel free to peruse the rest of the pictures on our Google+ Album, and ask us any questions you might have,

Nova's puppies 12/10/16 - First Bath!

The puppies have been starting to get puppy mush this past week, which means they also get to start having their weekly baths.
The mush is just a mixture of powdered milk replacer, and the kibble that Nova is eating, also ground up into a powder. then I add water to the powders, and the puppies love it! of course, being puppies, they aren't very dainty eaters, and get the food as much on themselves as in themselves!
So yesterday was first bath day, so they could get clean again for pictures, and to get them used to baths from a young age.
Each puppy got a hands-on soaping up and rinsing in the warm water by Loretta, then a towel-dry and a blow-dry by Kim. After they were dry and fluffied up, they got trims of their little toenails, and trims of the fur around certain particularly dirty areas. (The potty zones, and the bottoms of their pads) Then, pictures!

The puppies are getting more energetic and playful every day! Check out this month's G+ album for extra pictures, and the occasional video of playful puppies~ (The album is in chronological order so scroll down for the most recent pictures)

~ALSO A REMINDER~
Open houses start this coming weekend, starting Friday, 12/16. For those of you taking these adorable blobs of fluff home in January, If you haven't let us know a day and/or time you'd like to visit, let us know, so you can meet the beautiful babies and get the address of the open house. We're open (by appointment) each weekend, Friday and Saturday, excepting the Saturday of the 17th, until all the puppies have gone home in mid-January.

With all that said, it's started to snow outside, so we wish you all a safe and happy weekend!

Nova's puppies get their microchips, and all are sold!

Yesterday was the day that the puppies got their microchips and their first puppy mush!
In addition, The last puppy has been spoken for. We're not sure if there will be another litter, but we can take your name for a waiting list and if enough folks are interested we might be convinced to have another litter next year sometime.
We changed our microchip provider this time, as we found a service which has much smaller chips, and we can pay their registration ahead of time, so all their new parents will have to do is set them up with their address and phone number.
We also got a microchip for the one of my ferrets that didn't already have one, both because he needed one and because it would let us test out the service.

The paperwork that comes in the packet - after Nokk got his chip we put the sticker with his number on this ID card and put his name on the card, then we registered online. The registration is lifetime, and comes with a small video library on basic dog training. You can also register by phone if you prefer that too.

After the puppies had recovered a little from their microchip ordeal, We dragged them back out for a quick set of pictures. They were quite tired and grumpy, but still alert enough to show off their fresh, bright eyes

Pidgey, smallest boy

Horsea, second smallest boy

Ghastly, Middle-sized boy

Ditto, Second largest boy

Raichu, Largest boy

Eevee, Smallest Girl

Jynx, Biggest Girl.

Now that their eyes are open, the puppies are much more active and exciting. This week our most laid-back puppy was Jynx, with Pidgey coming in a close second. They're just starting to take their first few steps, so soon they'll be exploring their little pen and making all sorts of trouble!
and of course they'll be getting their first puppy mush this week, and that will be a real mess!

The extra photos from this week can be found on our G+ album
And of course, if you have any questions, please let us know, and we'll be happy to answer them!~

Little Milo Born 7/04/15

Honey Ridge has an open door policy for all puppies.  If for any reason a family cannot keep their puppy, the puppy is welcomed back home as part of the family.
We work with the puppy to discover their personality and retain them before we start looking to find the puppy a forever home.
Milo is one of 3 puppies that have been returned over the years for various reasons.
Milo was born in July 2015, and is still very much a puppy.
Milo was returned to us in April of 2016, due to his high energy levels.  We have a fenced in yard where Milo can run and play off leash and he has proven to be a perfect gentelman,
who happens to be rather high energy.
He loves to play, and does need either a very active family or a fenced in yard to burn off excess energy.
Milo loves to play with toys and his current favorite playmate is Daddy Rampage.
After playing Milo likes to cuddle too.  He tends to cuddle for a bit, then check out what is going on before returning to my lap.

Milo has a very special place in my heart because our very first Bichon, Miss Minnie Mouse, was given to us because her family could not handle her energy level.  And Miss Minnie was a godsend to our family, she and my youngest child would run and play and wear each other out.
Miss Minnie Mouse is now 13 and just starting to slow down.
If you are interested in an already neutered and potty trained older puppy that happens to have a good amount of energy, please feel free to contact me.  I would love to keep Milo, but I know that he is still waiting for his forever family.
